US imports of crude oil and petroleum products from Iraq dropped significantly in April 2026, falling to about 4.03 million barrels from 7.94 million barrels recorded in March, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The EIA figures also showed that total US crude oil imports from members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) declined month-on-month, decreasing from 45.47 million barrels in March to 37.11 million barrels in April.
Among OPEC suppliers, Venezuela shipped the largest volume of oil to the United States in April with 14.47 million barrels. Saudi Arabia followed with 12.62 million barrels, while Iraq ranked third with 4.03 million barrels.
Algeria supplied 2.33 million barrels during the month, ahead of Libya’s 1.75 million barrels and Nigeria’s 1.37 million barrels. Kuwait exported 322,000 barrels to the US, while imports from Gabon stood at 209,000 barrels. The EIA data indicated that the United States did not import any oil from the United Arab Emirates in April.
