Adamawa State is making a major play in Nigeria’s green economy with plans to create over 40,000 jobs through clean energy initiatives, anchored by a new 300-megawatt solar project.
George Kushi, Principal Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Media and Communications, made the announcement during the state’s first quarter 2025 media parley in Yola.“
At the heart of this transformation is a landmark Memorandum of Understanding signed with Liberal Energy for the development of a 300-megawatt Solar PV farm,” Kushi said.
He added that the initiative, combined with collaboration from the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), is expected to attract billions in private investment and position Adamawa as a renewable energy leader.
To support the vision, the state has kicked off annual training for 1,000 residents in solar photovoltaic installation, aiming to build local capacity in clean tech.“This is not just about energy — it’s about empowering our people and transforming our economy,” Kushi emphasized.
The energy drive is part of a broader development push under Governor Fintiri, which also includes the “10,000 Youths for 2025 Skills Acquisition Training Program” led by PAWECA, as well as major digital and infrastructure projects.
Kushi noted the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance, highlighting the creation of new chiefdoms and emirates and the ongoing construction of flyovers, roads, and the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex.
“With strategic investments across energy, youth development, digital innovation, and infrastructure, Adamawa is firmly on the path to sustainable growth and prosperity,” he concluded.
