President Bola Tinubu has approved the issuance of all critical regulatory licences for the Kolmani Integrated Development Project, a major oil exploration initiative spanning Bauchi and Gombe states.
This move aims to boost Nigeria’s oil production by activating all available hydrocarbon platforms nationwide.Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, revealed the approvals during the launch of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy’s permanent site in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
He said, “The imperative to activate all available oil platforms for increased production led President Bola Tinubu to grant approvals for the issuance of all critical regulatory licences for the Kolmani Integrated Development Projects.”
Lokpobiri emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s energy sector to drive industrial growth, create jobs, and increase national revenue. “Mr President is intentional about transforming our energy landscape into one that fuels industrial growth, creates jobs and enhances national revenue,” he stated.
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, also expressed gratitude for the federal support, noting, “This institution will serve as a foundation for skill acquisition and innovation that will benefit not just Bauchi State but the entire nation.”
The Kolmani project, first inaugurated in 2022, marks a significant step in Northern Nigeria’s oil exploration efforts.
Bayo Ojulari, CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, confirmed plans to resume oil drilling at Kolmani and complete the Ajaokuta-Kano gas pipeline, highlighting the project’s potential to reopen closed companies and boost regional wealth.
This strategic development is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s energy goals and economic growth.
