Coalition Urges Tinubu to Investigate NNPCL Boss over Alleged Mismanagement

A coalition of civil society organisations, led by the Patriotic Nigerian Youth Forum (PNYF), has called on President Bola Tinubu to probe the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The group expressed disappointment with the performance of the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Bashir Ojulari, accusing him of failing to bring about meaningful reforms since taking office.

Ojulari assumed leadership of the NNPCL in April 2025 following the exit of Mele Kyari, as part of the government’s push to realign the company with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda. However, the coalition said that expectations of change have not been met.

In a statement signed by PNYF Convener, Comrade Olamide Odumosu, and Co-Convener, Comrade Haruna Gambari, the coalition criticised Ojulari’s leadership style and claimed that the company continues to operate with the same inefficiencies as before. They also condemned what they described as frequent and unnecessary foreign trips by the company’s leadership.

The coalition called for an immediate audit of NNPCL’s operations and vowed to continue advocating for transparency and accountability in the management of the country’s oil sector.
