Explosion at TCN Station Plunges Anambra, Oji River Into Darkness

Residents of Anambra State and Oji River in Enugu State are currently without electricity following an early morning explosion at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) facility in Awada.

The incident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, disrupted supply across the entire Anambra network and parts of Enugu, according to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

Confirming the development, EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, said the blackout was directly linked to the blast at the transmission station. He explained that the company is in close contact with TCN engineers who have since begun repair efforts.

“All customers in Anambra State and Oji River have been without supply since the explosion. Our team is on standby, waiting for the transmission company to complete their work so power can be restored,” he said.

Ezeh expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, appealing for patience from affected customers while assuring them of the company’s commitment to improved service delivery once the issue is resolved.

The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been disclosed, but residents are hopeful that power will return in the coming hours.
