The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS) across its outlets in Abuja, following similar price cuts by Dangote Refinery and local depot operators.
Fuel now sells for N930 per litre at NNPCL stations in major areas including Kubwa Expressway, Gwarimpa, Wuse Zone 4, and Zone 6, down from N945 per litre. This marks a N15 reduction in the state-owned firm’s retail price.
Other filling stations in the capital have also adjusted prices. Ranoil outlets in Gwarimpa, for instance, lowered petrol prices by N5, now retailing at N935 per litre, while MRS and AP Ardova stations are selling between N930 and N935 per litre.
The price adjustments follow reductions in ex-depot costs by major players such as Dangote Refinery, Pinnacle, and Aiteo, which cut their rates by at least N10 per litre, bringing prices to around N844–N846.
Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), indicated that further price drops are possible as competition among suppliers intensifies.
The development provides some relief to motorists in Abuja as petrol prices continue to fluctuate amid ongoing shifts in supply and refinery operations.
