NLNG appoints Adeleye Falade as new managing director

Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has appointed Adeleye Falade as its new managing director and chief executive officer.

The appointment was approved by the NLNG Board of Directors and announced during a send-off ceremony in Abuja held to mark the end of the tenure of the current managing director, Philip Mshelbila.

Mr Falade is expected to assume office in April 2026. He will take over from Mr Mshelbila, who will exit the company at the end of December after more than four years in charge to assume a new role as Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, Qatar.

Confirming the appointment, NLNG’s Manager of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs, Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, said Mr Falade would be joining the company from Brunei LNG, where he currently serves as managing director and CEO.

Mr Falade brings extensive experience in the global energy industry. He is presently the managing director of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad, a position he has held since April 2024. Before that, he served as Shell Namibia country chair between September 2023 and April 2024.

He is also familiar with NLNG’s operations, having previously worked at the company as general manager, production, from 2019 to 2023, and earlier as operations manager between 2015 and 2018. His international experience further includes a role as regional AMS implementation manager at Shell in The Hague, the Netherlands.

According to NLNG, Mr Falade has worked across upstream and midstream assets in seven countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia and Africa. His expertise spans gas and petroleum operations, engineering, product optimisation, business improvement and change management.
Mr Falade holds an engineering degree and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Business School in the United Kingdom.

NLNG is one of Nigeria’s key energy companies, operating a major liquefied natural gas and natural gas liquids facility on Bonny Island, Rivers State. The company is jointly owned by the Nigerian government and international oil companies and plays a significant role in gas exports, reducing gas flaring and promoting cleaner energy.
