Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price to N799 Per Litre

Dangote Refinery has adjusted the gantry price of petrol from N699 to N799 per litre, with retail outlets such as MRS now selling the fuel at N839 per litre. The company said the increase follows the conclusion of the festive season and is aimed at aligning prices with sustainable market levels.

In a statement released Monday, the refinery explained that the temporary price support during the holiday period was designed to ease the financial burden on households.

The move marked the second consecutive festive season in which the refinery absorbed additional costs to ensure affordability and stability in the market.
“Despite previous reductions, some filling stations did not reflect the lower price at the pump, limiting the benefits for consumers,” the statement added.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery CEO David Bird emphasized that the company continues to supply about 50 million litres of petrol daily across the country. He highlighted the refinery’s operational flexibility, which allows it to process different types of crude and intermediate feedstocks, ensuring a steady and uninterrupted fuel supply even during maintenance activities.

Bird added that, as a domestic producer, the refinery helps shield Nigeria from import-related price fluctuations and external supply disruptions, maintaining stability in the downstream petroleum sector.

“Dangote Refinery remains committed to energy security, price stability, and delivering long-term value for Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
