Adeleye Falade has officially assumed the role of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), the company announced.
Falade takes over from Philip Mshelbila, who recently became Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). His appointment was formalized at NLNG’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the global oil and gas sector, Falade brings extensive leadership expertise across both upstream and midstream operations. He has previously held senior positions in Shell and its affiliates across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa. His experience covers production optimization, engineering, operational excellence, and business improvement, among other areas.
Prior to his new role at NLNG, Falade led Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad as Managing Director, overseeing the company’s LNG operations and strategic objectives. He also served as Country Chair for Shell Namibia and held key leadership roles at NLNG itself, including General Manager, Production, and Operations Manager, where he was responsible for plant performance and operational reliability.
Falade holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, as well as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
The company highlighted that Falade joins NLNG at a critical moment. The organization has recently signed long-term gas supply agreements with multiple third-party suppliers and is nearing completion of its Train 7 expansion, which is expected to significantly boost LNG production capacity. The leadership change also reinforces NLNG’s commitment to fostering Nigerian talent in its management ranks.
