Midwestern Oil and Gas, a leading independent oil and gas company in Nigeria, has appointed Elozino Olaniyan as its first female Chief Executive Officer, with the role taking effect from 1 December 2025.
Olaniyan, a veteran energy executive with more than three decades of experience, has held key positions across upstream operations, corporate strategy, and stakeholder engagement. Before joining Midwestern, she served as General Manager for Safety and Environment at Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, where she implemented reforms to improve operational efficiency and environmental practices.
The company said her appointment represents a historic step toward inclusive leadership and signals a renewed focus on governance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. Midwestern has also strengthened its Board of Directors with independent non-executive members to enhance oversight and accountability.
Commenting on her new role, Olaniyan said, “I am honoured to lead Midwestern at this important stage. My priority will be operational discipline, transparency, and sustainable growth that benefits all stakeholders. With our reinforced leadership team, we are positioned to deliver lasting value and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s energy sector.”
Emeka Okwuosa, Chairman of Midwestern Oil and Gas, described Olaniyan’s appointment as a milestone for the company. He added, “Elozino brings a unique combination of technical expertise, strategic vision, and commitment to sustainability. The Board is confident in her ability to guide Midwestern through its next phase of growth.”
Olaniyan’s leadership is expected to drive operational innovation, develop local talent, and strengthen the company’s contribution to national energy development.
