The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that some parts of Abuja will experience temporary electricity outages for more than two weeks due to ongoing road construction works within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the power interruptions will begin on Tuesday, October 28, and continue until Sunday, November 16, 2025. The disruption is tied to road construction along the Kuje axis, which will affect the 132kV Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo double-circuit transmission line.
To ensure the safety of construction workers and residents, TCN said it will carry out a planned load management operation during the period. The company explained that the outages will occur in three phases, each lasting a few days, and will only happen during daytime working hours.
Phase 1: October 28 – November 2, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Phase 2: November 6 – November 9, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Phase 3: November 12 – November 16, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Areas expected to be affected include Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and Idu Industrial Layout.
TCN assured residents that power will be restored to all affected communities after each day’s work period. The company also appealed for understanding, emphasizing that the temporary disruptions are necessary to facilitate the completion of critical infrastructure projects in the capital city.
