Uzbekistan and China Strengthen Cooperation in Oil and Gas Sector

Uzbekistan and China are deepening their collaboration in the oil and gas industry, focusing on the adoption of advanced technologies and boosting local capacity, Trend reports.

Officials from Uzbekistan’s state oil company, Uzbekneftegaz JSC, met with representatives from China’s Jereh Group to discuss expanding their ongoing partnership. The Uzbek delegation was led by Bakhodirjon Sidikov, while Li Zhiyong, CEO of Jereh Group, headed the Chinese side.

The discussions highlighted efforts to maintain stable natural gas production, optimize the use of existing reserves, and improve operational efficiency at oil and gas production facilities. Accelerated projects include constructing small compressor stations across the country.

Jereh Group shared details on high-efficiency compressor systems, modern drilling technologies, energy-efficient equipment, and service solutions. Both sides agreed to establish a local service center in Uzbekistan, ensure steady supply of spare parts, and implement training programs to enhance the skills of local specialists.

The parties also explored potential collaboration with UzbekKhimmash JSC to produce certain import-substituting equipment locally, creating new employment opportunities. To oversee implementation, expert-level working groups will be formed to develop a practical action plan.

Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry has been increasingly leveraging modern technologies, including artificial intelligence and digitalization, to enhance field development, data analysis, and decision-making. This includes 3D geological and hydrodynamic modeling, advanced drilling techniques such as rotary steerable systems, and automated monitoring systems for natural gas since 2020.

Since the start of cooperation with Jereh Group, 36 small compressor units have already been built and commissioned, marking significant progress in the modernization of Uzbekistan’s oil and gas infrastructure.
