The Rural Electrification Agency has entered into two strategic partnerships aimed at advancing clean energy adoption, improving agricultural productivity, and supporting technology-driven economic growth in Nigeria.
The agreements were signed with the Nigerian Commodity Exchange and the Young Innovators of Nigeria as part of efforts to expand the agency’s role beyond rural electricity access into broader economic and industrial development.
Under the partnership with the Nigerian Commodity Exchange, both organisations will collaborate on integrating renewable energy infrastructure into agricultural value chains across the country. The initiative is expected to support commodity processing, storage, aggregation and trade through reliable solar-powered systems.
The collaboration aligns with the Federal Government’s food security objectives and is designed to improve efficiency in agricultural production and distribution while promoting sustainable energy use.
The Nigerian Commodity Exchange, a government-backed institution responsible for regulated commodity trading, will work with the REA to develop a framework that links clean energy solutions with agro-industrial activities nationwide.
In a separate agreement, the REA partnered with the Young Innovators of Nigeria to jointly organise and implement the Technology Ecosystem Dialogue, an initiative focused on innovation, digital transformation, clean energy and smart mobility.
According to the agency, the partnership will create a platform for stakeholder engagement, resource mobilisation and annual discussions on technology-driven development in line with national priorities.
The REA stated that the agreements reflect its broader commitment to using renewable energy infrastructure to support industrialisation, youth empowerment, innovation and economic resilience across the country.
The agency added that the partnerships demonstrate how access to clean energy can drive growth in key sectors such as agriculture, technology and manufacturing while contributing to sustainable national development.
