Dangote Foundation offers students 10 free IPO shares

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has introduced a programme that will allow eligible Nigerian students to receive 10 additional shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE at no cost.

Under the Student Share Grant Initiative, students aged 18 and above who attend recognised public or private tertiary institutions can qualify by subscribing for at least 10 shares in the refinery’s ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO).

The foundation said the initiative is designed to give young Nigerians practical exposure to investing while promoting financial literacy, responsible investment and long-term asset ownership.

According to the foundation’s chairman, Aliko Dangote, the programme is intended to help students understand the principles of saving and investing by giving them an opportunity to participate directly in the capital market.

Eligible participants must first complete the required verification through the foundation’s designated platform. They will then be directed to the subscription channel to apply for a minimum of 10 Dangote refinery shares in their own names.

Once the requirements are met, the foundation will fund an application for an additional 10 shares on behalf of the qualifying student, at no extra cost to the beneficiary.

The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Zouera Youssoufou, said the initiative combines financial education with hands-on exposure to the investment process, allowing participants to understand activities ranging from verification and subscription to allotment and ownership.

The foundation clarified that the grant cannot be used to acquire shares for another person, another Dangote company or any other company. It also stressed that the programme is voluntary and should not be regarded as investment advice or an endorsement of the refinery’s shares.

Prospective participants were advised to study the IPO documents carefully before deciding whether to subscribe.
