Tinubu nominates six executive directors for NMDPRA

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of six nominees for executive director positions at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to the Senate for confirmation.

The nominees comprise three officials seeking another term and three new appointees, according to a statement released on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

If approved by the Senate, the nominees will serve five-year terms.

The officials nominated for reappointment are Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director of Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib for Corporate Services and Administration.

Tinubu has asked the Senate to give the nominations prompt consideration, saying the appointments are necessary to maintain the Authority’s operations and reinforce its regulatory responsibilities.

The President also approved Jumoke Gafar’s appointment as Secretary to the Board and Authority, as well as Legal Adviser. Her appointment is subject to the completion of the requirements outlined in Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.

The latest nominations follow Tinubu’s appointment of Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive of the NMDPRA in April.
