Iraq Launches Nation’s Largest Oilfield Services Hub

Iraq has officially unveiled the country’s largest oilfield services center, marking a major leap forward in the nation’s energy sector.

The Iraq Oilfield Services Center (IOS), located in Basra, was launched following a strategic cooperation agreement signed between the Basra Oil Company (BOC), Gilgamesh Oil Field Services, and Arab Well Logging and Well Services Company (AWLCO).

“This alliance signals a new era of technological innovation, operational capability, and strong industrial partnerships within Iraq,” said a representative from the Ministry of Oil.

Equipped with a broad range of service equipment, IOS is now the largest provider of oilfield services in Iraq. It offers integrated solutions for drilling, workover, and rigless operations, aiming to increase its domestic market share by 30% in the early phase of its expansion strategy.

“Our goal is not just growth, but transformation,” said an IOS spokesperson. “By deepening international partnerships and integrating global expertise, we aim to unlock Iraq’s full energy potential.”

The initiative also emphasizes workforce development, with a strong focus on training local Iraqi talent and boosting the efficiency of national production assets through advanced technologies.

“This center isn’t just about machines and rigs. It’s about empowering Iraqis with the tools and skills to lead the industry forward,” added the IOS official.

The launch underscores Iraq’s broader ambition to strengthen its energy infrastructure and position itself as a key player in the global oil market.
