IndianOil to Launch India’s Largest Green Hydrogen Plant by 2027

IndianOil is set to commission the country’s largest green hydrogen plant at its Panipat Refinery & Petrochemical Complex by December 2027. This landmark project will produce 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, marking IndianOil’s major step into clean energy.

The green hydrogen produced at the facility will replace fossil-based hydrogen currently used in refinery operations, significantly reducing carbon emissions. IndianOil Chairman Arvinder Singh Sahney confirmed that tenders have been received and the contract award is imminent.

“This initiative will substantially cut our carbon footprint by replacing fossil-derived hydrogen with green hydrogen in refinery processes,” Sahney said. “We are committed to driving India’s energy transition and this plant is a key milestone.”

The project aligns with India’s broader goals to promote sustainable energy and reduce emissions across industrial sectors. Once operational, the plant will help IndianOil lead the way in the country’s green hydrogen sector.

With global focus intensifying on clean energy solutions, IndianOil’s Panipat plant signals a major push toward a greener, more sustainable energy future for India.
