Dangote Cement, Tetracore Expand Clean Energy Partnership

In a significant step toward accelerating Nigeria’s clean energy transition, Tetracore Energy Group Limited and Dangote Cement Plc have expanded their partnership with the commissioning of Phase 2 of Tetracore’s AutoGas Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supply network.

The move includes the deployment of a new mobile AutoGas refuelling unit at the Dangote Cement Plant in Ibese, Ogun State. The unit delivers up to 50,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD) of AutoGas, complementing the existing 25,000 SCMD supplied from Tetracore’s CNG Mother Station in Atakabo.

“This commissioning represents more than just an infrastructure upgrade,” said Masud Akajewole, Project Team Lead at Tetracore. “It is a reaffirmation of our strategic intent to support Nigeria’s gas utilisation projects while offering practical, innovative solutions that bridge energy gaps for industrial and transport players.”

The expanded supply also fuels Dangote Group’s new fleet of CNG-powered trucks, part of a broader initiative to roll out up to 10,000 CNG trucks annually. Fuel will be provided directly at the port to ease logistics and drive efficiency.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment to driving down carbon emissions and promoting sustainable fuel alternatives in both the industrial and transport sectors.

“With more mobile units planned nationwide,” Tetracore said, “we are deepening our collaboration with Dangote Cement to provide scalable and modular energy access solutions across Nigeria.”

The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and national goals to improve energy access while promoting clean alternatives.

Tetracore’s broader CNG supply network is projected to deliver up to 400,000 SCMD daily, catering not just to Dangote’s operations but also to other AutoGas users in the region. A second 50,000 SCMD mobile unit has also been deployed to boost flexibility at the Ibese plant.

This marks another milestone in the joint effort to bridge Nigeria’s energy gaps with sustainable and scalable solutions.
