Nigeria to Drive 92% of Africa’s Gas Growth by 2050

Nigeria is set to lead Sub-Saharan Africa’s gas demand growth, contributing 92% to the continent’s total increase by 2050, according to projections from the Gas Investment Forum.

By 2050, Nigeria is expected to add over 75 billion cubic meters of gas, primarily through expanded power generation, industrial growth, and petrochemical production.

The Gas Investment Forum 2025, scheduled for October 7-8 in Lagos, aims to further these advancements.

“The Ministry of Petroleum Resources is committed to leveraging this platform to engage with stakeholders and attract investments,” said Ruth Nunghe, Director of Gas at the Ministry.

Isesele Osaze, Event Director, emphasized the strategic importance of Nigeria’s expanding gas infrastructure, stating, “This forum will catalyze new partnerships, investment deals, and policy innovations that will shape Nigeria’s gas sector.”

With over 1,000 industry leaders expected to attend, the forum is poised to reinforce Nigeria’s role as a key player in global gas markets.
