Honghua Group, a Chinese energy technology company under Dongfang Electric Corporation, has rolled out a new intelligent fracturing system designed to modernize the extraction of unconventional oil and gas.
The system, introduced on Friday in Chengdu, integrates digital controls across six key operational areas, including electric fracturing pumps, safety systems, and power distribution. By merging 33 separate steps into a single automated process, the technology is expected to reduce manual input by up to 90 percent while improving on-site efficiency by around 15 percent, according to company officials.
Beyond efficiency, Honghua emphasized that the system also contributes to lowering carbon emissions, a growing concern as the global energy sector balances demand with sustainability goals.
Industry analysts say the move highlights China’s growing role in supplying high-tech solutions for unconventional oil and gas, which typically require advanced methods such as fracturing to access. These resources are considered more challenging to develop than traditional reserves but are increasingly vital for global energy security.
The launch event drew more than 300 experts from over 20 countries, including representatives of research institutions, universities, and industry players from North America, the Middle East, and Africa—regions where Honghua’s drilling equipment is already widely used.
With this innovation, the company aims to position itself at the forefront of intelligent energy solutions while addressing industry needs for safer, greener, and more efficient operations.
