The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has revealed that parts of Enugu State and Abuja will face brief electricity interruptions as it conducts maintenance at two of its major substations.
In statements shared via its official X account, TCN said the affected substations are the New Haven 132/33kV facility in Enugu and the Kubwa 132/33kV station in Abuja.
The company noted that maintenance work in Enugu will run from October 22 to 31, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. The exercise will be carried out in phases, with one 33kV feeder shut down daily on a rotational basis to reduce disruption.
TCN clarified that the process will not lead to a total blackout across Enugu, as only one of the 24 feeders will be switched off at any given time. It explained that this plan was designed to ensure the safety of engineers and protect the equipment under maintenance while keeping power supply stable in most areas.
In Abuja, preventive maintenance is scheduled for October 21, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kubwa substation. The work involves replacing a faulty 33kV circuit breaker, which will temporarily cut off bulk power supply to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The outage will affect communities around Kubwa, including Aso Garden, Papal Ground, Army Resettlement, Chikakore, FO1, Dantata Estate, and other nearby areas.
TCN assured the public that the exercise is part of efforts to upgrade its transmission infrastructure and improve the reliability of power supply across the country. The company appealed for patience and cooperation during the maintenance period.
