Kazakhstan and Türkiye have held talks aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector, with a focus on exploration, technology exchange, and long-term joint projects.
The discussions took place in Ankara between Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG), and Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar. Both sides reviewed ways to strengthen collaboration between KMG and Turkish energy firms.
A key part of the talks centered on cooperation between KazMunayGas and Türkiye’s state-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). The two companies have already been working together to identify promising geological exploration opportunities in both countries and are now considering moving from assessments to practical project implementation.
Khassenov noted that closer ties with Turkish partners could accelerate geological exploration activities, support the use of modern technologies, and contribute to the development of skilled professionals in the sector.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation in oil and gas, emphasizing the mutual economic benefits for Kazakhstan and Türkiye.
The discussions build on an existing cooperation agreement signed by TPAO and KazMunayGas in July 2025.
