Pipeline Explosion Disrupts Planned Delfin LNG Project in Louisiana

A natural gas pipeline connected to the proposed Delfin liquefied natural gas project in southwestern Louisiana exploded on Tuesday during routine maintenance work, according to local emergency officials.

Gas flows were immediately shut off following the incident, and remaining fuel in the pipeline was safely flared to prevent further danger.

One pipeline operator was injured, authorities said. The pipeline is owned by Delfin Midstream, the developer behind the offshore LNG project, which has yet to begin construction or complete its fundraising efforts. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing.
