TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil Open Bids for Mozambique LNG Marine Services

TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil have started a joint bid process for marine services to support their major LNG projects in Mozambique. The initiative covers TotalEnergies’ 13 million tonnes per year Mozambique LNG project and ExxonMobil’s 18 million tpa Rovuma LNG project.

The companies are seeking vessels capable of handling up to 380 LNG tanker loadings annually, highlighting the scale of the operations. The move comes amid ongoing concerns about maritime security in the region, including threats in Cabo Delgado province.

Industry experts say the partnership underlines the supermajors’ commitment to maintaining safe and efficient shipping operations for some of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas projects.

Rwandan troops have previously been deployed to patrol Mocimboa da Praia harbour, illustrating the importance of security in supporting Mozambique’s growing LNG sector.
