Top oil executives from across the continent will converge in Accra, Ghana, on September 15, 2025, for the 7th Annual APPO National Oil Company (NOC) CEO Forum, a high-level, closed-door meeting set to shape the future of Africa’s energy industry.
The gathering, held under the auspices of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) and hosted by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), will coincide with AOW: Energy 2025, a flagship energy event taking place that same week.
“This is a pivotal moment for Africa’s National Oil Companies to come together, address our most pressing regional challenges, and drive forward our shared vision for sustainable energy development across the continent,” said Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, APPO Secretary General.
The 2025 edition is especially symbolic, aligning with the 40th anniversary of GNPC and marking a major milestone under the leadership of Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, GNPC’s CEO.
“We are honored to welcome APPO’s flagship CEO gathering to Accra. It’s a testament to Ghana’s growing influence in Africa’s energy landscape,” Mr. Amoah stated. “This week will not only celebrate our legacy but also position us at the heart of the continent’s energy future.”
The forum will focus on six key priorities:
Enhancing collaboration in hydrocarbon exploration and production
Securing funding for Africa’s oil and gas sector
Boosting R&D knowledge-sharing
Promoting data collaboration for smarter decision-making
Advancing capacity-building for local talent
Aligning on global and regional energy regulations
Dr. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of regional cooperation:
“We believe that regional collaboration is the key to unlocking Africa’s vast energy potential, and the NOC CEO Meeting provides a platform for us to accelerate progress and innovation.”
The event is expected to draw CEOs of APPO member companies, top investors, policymakers, and energy leaders committed to reshaping the continent’s upstream sector and unlocking new frontiers of opportunity.
“AOW continues to solidify its position as the must-attend event for Africa’s energy leaders,” added Dr. Ibrahim. “Together, we can build a stronger, united energy future for Africa.”
