Auto Bucks Bets Big on Solar, Opens Abuja Office for SME Financing

Auto Bucks Lenders Limited (ABL) has launched a new branch in Abuja, expanding its footprint across Nigeria with a sharpened focus on clean energy financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The move marks a significant step in the financial institution’s strategic growth plan, with its Acting Chief Executive Officer, Adetoun Olasunkanmi, highlighting the company’s commitment to driving sustainability and inclusive economic development.

“One of our top priorities in Abuja will be renewable energy financing,” said Olasunkanmi. “We’ve seen firsthand how access to affordable and reliable energy can dramatically reduce operational costs for SMEs.”She noted that Abuja presents a unique opportunity, not just for its size and solar potential, but also due to the high cost of electricity that often hampers business growth.

ABL, known for its customised credit offerings, currently operates in Lagos, Ibadan, and Ogun State, with over N65 billion in loans disbursed. The company now aims to scale its presence nationwide, reinforcing support for key sectors including agribusiness, hospitality, education, pharmaceuticals, and beauty and wellness.

“Our Ibadan office recorded zero Portfolio at Risk in its first year,” Olasunkanmi said proudly. “We’re committed to replicating that level of excellence in Abuja and future branches.”As part of its clean energy push, Auto Bucks will collaborate with Green Bucks Limited, a new subsidiary focused on Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS).

This partnership will deliver complete solar systems and energy management to SMEs and commercial clients, with Auto Bucks offering flexible financing options.“We are here to build a financially inclusive and clean energy-powered economy,” she added.

“Our goal is to be a trusted partner in long-term SME growth through innovative lending.”Auto Bucks’ expansion underscores the growing demand for renewable energy solutions and the critical role of financing in enabling Nigeria’s transition toward a more sustainable future.
