Axxela Limited, a prominent player in sub-Saharan Africa’s gas and power sector, has expanded its natural gas pipeline network, connecting a new wave of commercial and industrial clients across Nigeria. The latest connections aim to accelerate domestic gas utilisation and support the country’s clean energy transition.
The newly connected clients span vital industries such as FMCG, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and transportation. Key names include Unicure Pharmaceuticals Limited, Gas Tech International Limited, Lagos Marriott Hotel, Jubaili Bros, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria Limited, and Ocean Lord Limited. These connections were facilitated through Axxela subsidiaries Transit Gas Nigeria Limited and Gaslink Nigeria Limited.
Kehinde Alabi, Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, described the development as a strategic leap toward energy efficiency and sustainability.
“We are dedicated to accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition by delivering reliable and affordable natural gas solutions to the industries that drive the country’s economic growth,” Alabi said. “By enabling these businesses to switch to the natural gas advantage, we’re not only enhancing their operational efficiency but also fostering environmental sustainability through cleaner energy use.”
The company, which already serves over 200 industrial and commercial clients, is reinforcing its market leadership by offering cost-effective alternatives to traditional fuels.
“These new connections highlight our commitment to expanding domestic gas use, reducing carbon footprints, and offering cost-effective energy alternatives in line with the Federal Government’s energy transition goals,” Alabi added.
Natural gas, known to emit up to 30% less CO₂ than conventional fossil fuels, plays a critical role in Nigeria’s aim to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. Axxela is also making major infrastructure moves, including a recently commissioned 5km pipeline in Victoria Island — the first phase of a 72.5km project through Lekki.
Axxela, co-owned by Helios Investment Partners and Sojitz Corporation, has built about 300km of pipeline and remains a key private-sector driver of Nigeria’s gas infrastructure and energy transition.
