Dangote Refinery Raises Diesel Price to N1,800 Per Litre

Dangote Refinery has increased its gantry price of diesel to N1,800 per litre, reversing a price cut introduced just three days earlier.

The latest adjustment represents a N100 increase from the previous price of N1,700 per litre, according to a market survey conducted on Saturday, October 10.

Despite the increase, the refinery’s diesel remained cheaper than supplies from several other depots. Pivot, African Terminal, Integrated and other depot operators were selling the product at about N1,905 per litre, leaving Dangote’s price N105 lower.

The increase could put further pressure on retail diesel prices, which were already ranging between N1,960 and N1,980 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas.

On October 7, the refinery had reduced its diesel price by N80, bringing it down from N1,780 to N1,700 per litre.

The latest adjustment comes as international crude oil prices remain elevated. Brent crude was trading at $104 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $91 per barrel as of the time of the report.

Diesel is widely used by businesses, manufacturers and transport operators to power generators and vehicles. Changes in its price can therefore affect operating expenses and contribute to higher costs for goods and services.
