DisCos collected N203.6bn from electricity consumers in April – NERC

Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) generated N203.61 billion in revenue from customers in April 2026, according to the latest commercial performance data released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

The report showed that the amount collected increased from N196.13 billion recorded in March, reflecting a 3.8% month-on-month rise.

NERC also disclosed that the value of electricity supplied to the 11 distribution companies climbed to N302.96 billion in April from N293.76 billion in the previous month.

Similarly, the total value of electricity billed to consumers rose to N252.43 billion, compared with N246.43 billion in March.

The commission said the DisCos achieved a collection efficiency of 80.66% during the month, improving slightly from 79.59% recorded in March. However, billing efficiency dipped marginally to 83.32% from 83.89%.

According to the regulator, the industry posted a revenue recovery efficiency of 82.11%, with distribution companies collecting an average of N102.13 per kilowatt-hour against the approved average tariff of N124.39 per kilowatt-hour.

Among the 11 electricity distribution companies, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) recorded the strongest revenue recovery performance at 102.09%. Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) followed with 89.77%, while Ikeja Electric posted 88.89%.

NERC said the three utilities emerged as the top performers in revenue recovery for April 2026.
