A drone strike hit a major refinery operated by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation early Friday, causing fires in several processing units, according to official reports.
State news agency KUNA said the attack targeted the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, one of Kuwait’s key refining facilities. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the site to contain the flames and secure the affected sections.
Smoke was seen rising from the area as response teams worked to bring the situation under control. Authorities have not yet disclosed the full extent of the damage or confirmed whether there were any casualties.
Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the attack and evaluate the impact on refinery operations. The incident raises fresh concerns over the safety of critical oil infrastructure in the region.
