The Nigerian government has launched the country’s first modular Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) extraction plant and a 20-megawatt gas-to-power project in Rivers State.
These projects, which were commissioned by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, aim to improve the country’s energy supply, create jobs, and provide cleaner energy solutions for local communities.
Developed by the Green Energy and Lekoil Joint Venture, the new facilities will help boost Nigeria’s use of its natural gas resources, providing electricity for local areas and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
The minister praised the project for its efficient execution and highlighted the role of local communities and traditional leaders in ensuring the projects’ success.
These initiatives are in line with President Bola Tinubu’s plan to enhance Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and promote cleaner cooking alternatives, as the government continues efforts to reduce reliance on traditional fuels like firewood and charcoal.
