Fuel prices have gone up again in various parts of Nigeria, with several filling stations adjusting their rates after a hike in ex-depot prices by Dangote Refinery and other suppliers.
Reports from Abuja show that stations like Empire Energy and Ranoil have raised their pump prices to N935 and N970 per litre, respectively—up from N905 and N900 just the night before.
Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), confirmed the price surge, attributing it to the recent upward review of ex-depot rates by key suppliers. According to him, Dangote Refinery now sells petrol to marketers at N858 per litre, a jump from N820. Other major depots like NIPCO and Aiteo have also followed suit, setting their prices around N855 to N870.
Ukadike noted that the increase is largely driven by rising global crude oil prices and ongoing exchange rate volatility.
Despite the widespread hikes, some filling stations—such as those operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), MRS, Optima, and AP Ardova—are still selling petrol at slightly lower prices, between N885 and N890 per litre, as of Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, global crude benchmarks Brent and West Texas Intermediate saw declines, trading at $69.67 and $67.33, respectively, according to oilprice.com.
