President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that the fuel subsidy removal was a necessary decision for Nigeria’s long-term economic health.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit on Thursday, Tinubu said the move is part of his administration’s broader reforms aimed at restoring the country’s economy.
“Today, I am proud to affirm that our economic reforms are working. There’s nothing good that comes easily. The subsidy is gone and was gone for the good of this country,” the president stated.
He stressed that the government is committed to fostering prosperity through tough decisions. “We couldn’t just afford to spend the future of our children and unborn babies,” Tinubu said, emphasizing that “there is no going back in the path recently laid for the nation’s economic growth.”
The president assured Nigerians that while the reforms are challenging, they are crucial for a stronger and more sustainable economy in the future.
