Indigenous Oil Producers Endorse Tinubu’s Reforms, Announce New Leadership

The Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s recent oil and gas sector reforms, commending the administration for what it described as a historic level of responsiveness to industry demands.

Speaking during the NOG Energy Week held in Abuja, IPPG Chairman Abdulrazaq Isa highlighted the overhaul of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the appointment of Bayo Ojulari as its new CEO as key achievements of the current administration.

Isa noted that with several long-standing demands now addressed — including the full rollout of the Petroleum Industry Act and completion of divestments by major international oil companies — the Nigerian oil and gas sector is poised for a new phase of indigenous-led growth.

He urged local producers, particularly IPPG members who now manage a number of recently acquired onshore and shallow-water assets, to intensify efforts toward achieving Nigeria’s production targets of 3 million barrels of oil and 12 billion cubic feet of gas per day by 2030.

“The industry is now at a defining point,” Isa said, stressing the need for indigenous firms to step up investment, build infrastructure, and deepen community engagement while adhering to high standards of corporate governance.

In a leadership update, Isa also announced that Mr. Adegbite Falade, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Aradel Holdings, has been named as Chairman-designate of IPPG’s Board of Trustees and Governance Council. His appointment takes effect on September 11, 2025, in line with IPPG’s 10th anniversary.

Isa expressed confidence in Falade’s capacity to continue driving the group’s mission and strengthen its position in Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
