IPPG Hails Tinubu’s Oil Sector Reform, Appoints New Chairman

The Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, describing them as transformative and timely.

IPPG Chairman Abdulrazaq Isa acknowledged the administration’s quick response to longstanding demands from industry stakeholders. He noted that many of the group’s proposed reforms have been adopted, calling the achievement remarkable.

Isa praised the restructuring of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) into a profit-driven entity, and commended the appointment of Engr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, highlighting his technical expertise.

Speaking at the 2025 NOG Energy Week, Isa said the sector is now at a crucial turning point, especially with the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), the conclusion of IOC divestments, and the introduction of new leadership across the board.

He urged oil and gas stakeholders to support President Tinubu’s production targets—3 million barrels of oil and 12 billion cubic feet of gas daily by 2030. He emphasized that newly acquired onshore and shallow water assets, mostly controlled by IPPG members, would play a key role in hitting these benchmarks.

Isa encouraged indigenous companies to step up by investing more in infrastructure, promoting transparency, and strengthening ties with local communities.

As part of a leadership transition, Isa announced that Mr. Adegbite Falade, CEO of Aradel Holdings, has been selected as the next Chairman of IPPG’s Board of Trustees and Governance Council. His appointment will take effect on September 11, 2025, during the group’s 10th anniversary celebration.

Isa said Falade is well-positioned to continue the group’s legacy and lead it into its next phase of growth.
