Iraq Emerges as Second-Largest OPEC Oil Supplier to US in July

The United States imported nearly 30 million barrels of crude oil from OPEC nations in July 2025, with Iraq securing the second spot among the top suppliers, according to new data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The EIA report revealed that total U.S. crude imports from OPEC members stood at 29.93 million barrels during the month. Saudi Arabia maintained its lead, shipping around 9.99 million barrels, while Iraq followed closely with 9.82 million barrels. Nigeria ranked third, sending about 3.77 million barrels.

Algeria and Libya contributed 2.11 million and 2.01 million barrels, respectively. Smaller volumes also came from Gabon (678,000 barrels), Kuwait (650,000 barrels), and Venezuela (175,000 barrels).

The data further showed that Congo, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates did not record any oil exports to the United States in July.

Iraq has consistently remained one of Washington’s key crude suppliers, reflecting its strong presence in the global energy market and the continued importance of OPEC members in meeting U.S. demand.
