Iraq Ranked 12th Globally in 2025 Natural Gas Reserve Rankings

A new report by U.S.-based CEOWORLD Magazine shows Iraq ranks 12th worldwide in terms of proven natural gas reserves for 2025.

The report highlights that Russia, Iran, and Qatar dominate the global landscape, jointly holding over 50% of the world’s confirmed gas reserves—roughly 3.7 quadrillion cubic feet out of a total 7.3 quadrillion cubic feet available. (One quadrillion equals one million billion.)

Russia tops the list with around 1.688 trillion cubic feet, followed by Iran with 1.183 trillion cubic feet, and Qatar in third place with 850 billion cubic feet.

The United States takes the fourth spot with 322 billion cubic feet, while Saudi Arabia ranks fifth with 303 billion cubic feet in reserves.

Iraq, with approximately 111.5 billion cubic feet, holds 1.61% of the global total, reinforcing its position as an important player in the international gas sector.

This data reflects ongoing trends in energy resource distribution, with much of the world’s gas reserves concentrated in a few key regions.
