Iraq Ranks 5th in U.S. Crude Oil Imports

Iraq maintained its position among the top exporters of crude oil to the United States last week, ranking fifth, according to the latest data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The EIA reported that total U.S. crude imports from the top ten supplying countries hit 5.093 million barrels per day (bpd) — a weekly increase of 262,000 bpd compared to the previous average of 4.831 million bpd.

Iraq exported 141,000 bpd to the U.S. during the week, a drop from 170,000 bpd the previous week.Despite the dip, Iraq remained one of the top OPEC suppliers to the U.S.

“Iraq continues to play a key role in supplying crude to American refineries,” the EIA noted in its update.Canada led with a massive 3.386 million bpd, followed by Mexico (369,000 bpd), Nigeria (276,000 bpd), and Saudi Arabia (152,000 bpd) ahead of Iraq.

Other contributors included Colombia (117,000 bpd), Venezuela (115,000 bpd), Brazil (99,000 bpd), Ecuador (82,000 bpd), and Libya (56,000 bpd).
