Libya is turning to Turkey as it seeks to revive its oil and gas sector, with top officials from both countries meeting in Istanbul to map out future collaboration. Libyan Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdel Sadek sat down with Turkey’s Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar to discuss joint ventures that could breathe new life into Libya’s energy landscape.
The talks touched on a range of opportunities, from tapping into untapped oil and gas reserves both offshore and on land, to rebuilding aging energy infrastructure. Turkish companies could soon play a larger role in Libya’s oilfield projects if cooperation moves forward.
Beyond deals and development, the meeting also focused on exchanging technical know-how. Libya is keen to learn from Turkey’s experience as it works toward modernizing its energy sector and building a more sustainable future.
This push is part of Libya’s broader effort to build stronger international alliances and secure long-term stability in its vital oil and gas industry.
