Nepal, India Set to Discuss Aviation Fuel Supply via Pipeline

Nepal is exploring the possibility of receiving aviation fuel directly from India through a cross-border pipeline, government officials confirmed. Talks between the two countries are expected to take place next week in New Delhi.

A Nepali delegation, led by Shivaram Pokhrel, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, will participate in the fifth meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Working Group on Oil and Gas Cooperation. The meeting was approved by the Nepalese government, with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology confirming the delegation’s participation.

Currently, Nepal imports petrol and diesel from the Indian Oil Corporation, but the discussions aim to expand this arrangement to include aviation fuel, potentially streamlining supply for the country’s airports.

The meeting in New Delhi is scheduled for Monday and will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including pipeline infrastructure and fuel logistics.
