Nigeria to Host Global Gas Forum in Lagos This October

Nigeria will host international gas investors and industry leaders in Lagos this October at the 2025 Gas Investment Forum, a two-day event scheduled for October 7–8 at the Oriental Hotel.

The forum will be headlined by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, who will deliver the keynote address as Chief Host.

According to the organisers, the gathering has grown into a major platform for advancing discussions on Nigeria’s gas monetisation drive and industrialisation agenda.

Among the confirmed speakers are Ed Ubong, Coordinating Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat; NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber; Akachukwu Nwokedi, President of the Nigeria Gas Association; and Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of PETAN. The international line-up also includes Andrea Stegher, President of the International Gas Union, alongside several other senior executives and stakeholders.

Event Director Osaze Isesele noted that the forum would provide opportunities for partnerships, investments, and innovation, while also featuring a trade exhibition where local and global firms can present new technologies and project ideas.

Backed by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, the forum is themed “Charting New Opportunities for Investment, Growth & Industrialisation.”

Nigeria is expected to play a central role in Africa’s gas future. Projections show the country will add over 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas between 2023 and 2050, accounting for a significant share of the continent’s demand growth, largely driven by power generation, petrochemicals, and industrial expansion.

Organisers say the 2025 edition will strengthen regional cooperation, attract new capital inflows, and position Nigeria as a hub for sustainable energy and gas-driven economic development.
