NNPC Records N905bn Profit in June as Oil and Gas Production Climb

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) reported a profit of N905 billion for June 2025, driven by a rebound in crude oil and gas production. The company’s total revenue for the month hit N4.57 trillion, showing continued growth in its operations.

In its monthly performance report, NNPC revealed that daily crude oil and condensate output rose to 1.68 million barrels — the highest figure recorded since January. Gas production also increased, reaching 7.58 billion standard cubic feet per day in June, up from 7.35 billion in May.

These gains follow an earlier report that the company’s revenue had reached N6 trillion by May, thanks to improved output and operational efficiency. From January to May, NNPC contributed over N6.96 trillion to the Federation Account, confirming its vital role in funding government activities.

While crude and condensate sales fell slightly in June to 21.68 million barrels, down from May’s 24.77 million, production levels stayed strong. Of the June total, 1.42 million barrels per day came from crude oil, while condensate contributed 0.26 million barrels.

The gas sector also showed growth, with daily sales increasing to 4.74 billion standard cubic feet. This was attributed to better-performing pipeline systems and steady progress on major infrastructure projects like the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline, which has now reached 83% completion. NNPC confirmed that the difficult River Niger crossing segment has been completed, reducing risks for the rest of the project.

Pipeline reliability remained high, with a 97% availability rate due to fewer cases of vandalism. However, petrol supply across NNPC stations stood at 71%, showing that distribution challenges still exist. Fuel availability was stronger in regions like North Central, South-South, and North West.

Other ongoing projects include the OB3 gas pipeline, which is now 96% completed, and the ongoing work at Nigeria’s key refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.

On the community development front, the NNPC Foundation trained over 67,000 NYSC members in June alone through its financial literacy campaign, bringing the total number trained to more than 870,000 across the country.

Overall, the report shows NNPC is making solid financial gains while pushing forward with key infrastructure and social projects.
