The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has named two senior executives to lead its corporate communications and stakeholder relations teams. Mr. Andy Odeh will serve as Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi takes on the role of Chief Relations Officer.
The appointments are part of NNPCL’s effort to improve public communication and strengthen engagement with stakeholders, including host communities, regulators, and international partners.
Odeh brings more than 30 years of experience in communications across the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcast industries. He spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG Limited, holding several leadership roles in corporate communications, public affairs, regulatory compliance, and community relations. He also led the company’s rebranding efforts and implemented a successful micro-credit program for host communities. Odeh played a key role in establishing the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting. He holds degrees from the University of Jos and the University of Lagos and attended INSEAD Business School as well as the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
Adewunmi, a legal practitioner with over 25 years of experience, joins NNPCL from Shell Companies in Nigeria. She has specialized in stakeholder management and regulatory affairs, previously serving as Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager at Shell. The company highlighted her leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and expertise in managing non-technical risks. She holds a law degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and is a member of the Nigerian Bar.
The appointments come a little over two months after Olufemi Soneye resigned as Chief Corporate Communications Officer in June 2025. NNPCL described the move as a strategic step to boost public trust and ensure effective engagement with all stakeholders.
