Ogun Set to Launch Crude Oil Drilling at Tongeji Island

Senator Solomon Adeola of Ogun West has confirmed that crude oil extraction will soon begin at Tongeji Island, located in Ipokia Local Government Area near the Nigerian-Benin border.

Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting in Otta, the senator emphasized that plans are already in motion to start drilling operations.

“The extraction of crude oil will commence at Tongeji Island, which will significantly boost the economic growth of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole,” Adeola said.

He credited the progress to the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the investor-friendly policies of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Senator Adeola also praised President Tinubu for attracting substantial foreign direct investments (FDI) into the country within just two years in office.

He highlighted Governor Abiodun’s efforts in transforming Ogun into a prime investment hub.”This development will not only enhance Ogun State’s economy but also elevate Nigeria’s crude oil production to new heights,” he added.

In addition to the oil announcement, Adeola shared his ongoing work on various infrastructure projects, including 15 completed road projects and 9 more underway in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

He also revealed the mobilization of N26 billion for the construction of the Atan-Ikonga-Alapoti-Ado-Odo Road, a key development that will enhance local socio-economic growth.

On his empowerment initiative, Adeola stated, “I decentralised the programme to ensure more constituents benefit, rewarding their support during the 2023 elections.”

The senator affirmed his commitment to continuing his impactful representation, noting that 70% of the 10 bills he has sponsored have already passed the second reading in the Senate.
