Ojulari Still Remains NNPC Boss – Presidency

Reports suggesting the resignation of Bayo Ojulari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), have been declared false by a senior official in the Presidency.

Ojulari, who assumed office in April 2025 following the dismissal of Mele Kyari by President Bola Tinubu, has faced scrutiny since his appointment. On Saturday, unverified claims that he had stepped down began circulating online and across media platforms.

However, a top Presidency source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to THEWILL that Ojulari remains in office. The official emphasized that Ojulari has not tendered a resignation letter and continues to carry out his responsibilities.

Insider sources revealed that Ojulari’s recent visit to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, where he addressed security concerns in the oil sector, may have sparked the unfounded rumours. Some commentators have linked the resignation chatter to efforts by certain interest groups reportedly pushing for his removal.

After initially publishing the resignation story, THEWILL later retracted it upon confirming the information was inaccurate. A close associate of Ojulari also described the reports as baseless, further reinforcing the Presidency’s position.

Ojulari’s time at the helm of NNPC has not been without controversy, and this latest episode adds to the challenges surrounding his leadership. Nevertheless, official channels insist that he remains firmly in his role.
