Nigeria’s energy sector witnessed a major moment on Tuesday as Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited officially launched its brand during the Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week 2025 in Abuja.
The event, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, attracted top government officials and industry leaders. Among those present were the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo; NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO, Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari; and Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Mr. Omatsola Ogbe.
Renaissance CEO Tony Attah described the company as more than a new brand — he called it a movement aimed at redefining Nigeria’s energy landscape through African-driven solutions. He urged stakeholders across the oil and gas value chain to join the company in building a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous energy future for the continent.
According to Attah, Renaissance stands for partnership rather than competition and is open to working with both public and private entities that share its vision of energy development by Africans, for Africans.
He pointed to the continent’s energy gap, citing that over 600 million people in Africa still lack access to electricity and 800 million rely on unclean energy sources. He said Renaissance is determined to address this challenge and play a key role in Africa’s energy transition.
Renaissance now operates Nigeria’s largest oil and gas exploration and production joint venture, in partnership with NNPC Limited, TotalEnergies, and Agip Energy and Natural Resources. Under its leadership, daily production has already exceeded 200,000 barrels.
The company’s asset portfolio includes 15 onshore and 3 shallow-water oil blocks, in addition to overseeing Nigeria’s two biggest crude export hubs — the Bonny and Forcados terminals.
Earlier at the event, guests toured the Renaissance booth, where Chairman Dr. Layi Fatona and other board members offered insights into the company’s early progress and strategic goals.
With its official unveiling, Renaissance positions itself as a major force aligned with national goals to scale up oil production, grow local capacity, and boost industrialisation through energy.
