The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has recovered a fresh ₦11.49 billion from oil and gas companies owing the federal government—pushing total recoveries to ₦61.5 billion.
PAC Chairman Rep. Bamidele Salam issued a stern warning to non-compliant companies: “This Committee will not tolerate attempts by corporate entities to evade their responsibility to the Nigerian people… If these companies believe they are too big to be held accountable, they must understand that their licenses are at risk.”
According to House Spokesperson Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., recovered funds came from Platform Petroleum (₦291m), Midwestern Oil and Gas (₦1.17bn), Seplat Energies (₦1.58bn), Aradel Holdings (₦6.1bn), Network Exploration & Production (₦775m), and Shoreline Resources (₦1.55bn).Despite public summons, several firms failed to show up.
They now collectively owe over $384 million and ₦325.7 million. Top defaulters include Neconde Energy ($110.5m), Heirs Holdings ($137.7m), and AITEO ($34.8m).
“The days of unchecked evasion are over,” Salam declared. “We are prepared to recommend immediate revocation of licenses.”
