Reps Urge Dangote and NMDPRA to Stop Feud Over $5m Tuition Claim

The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources has called on Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, and NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed to stop public arguments over a recent dispute.

Committee Chairman Ikenga Ugochinyere said both parties were summoned for an emergency meeting to explain their disagreement and help the lawmakers find a lasting solution.

The feud started after Dangote accused Ahmed of economic sabotage and mentioned a $5 million payment for his children’s school fees. Ugochinyere warned that continued public attacks could worsen tensions in the downstream petroleum sector.

He also said the committee would look into issues like import licences and whether local refineries can meet Nigeria’s daily fuel needs. The lawmakers urged Dangote, Ahmed, and other stakeholders to cooperate fully while the National Assembly works on resolving the matter.

“Both sides must stop media attacks while we investigate. This is important for the stability of the sector,” Ugochinyere said.
