President Bola Tinubu has promised bold federal intervention to tackle erosion, revive gas projects, and include Anambra State in the National Rail Master Plan during a landmark state visit to Awka.
Speaking at a civic reception at Alex Ekwueme Square, Tinubu acknowledged the region’s developmental challenges and affirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive progress.
“Abandoned federal road projects that link Anambra to Kogi can then become the fastest gateway between Abuja and Anambra South and South-South. I agree,” the President said, in response to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s requests for road infrastructure completion.
On Anambra’s exclusion from the National Rail Master Plan, Tinubu assured the crowd, “The Ministry of Transportation is aware and will include the connection in the Master Plan and give it attention.”
The President also addressed ecological issues, pledging support for erosion control and acknowledging the need to activate the state’s gas potential.“Our diversity must lead to prosperity. We must work together to be a united Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
“We are only staying in different rooms. Our diversity must lead to prosperity.”Governor Soludo described the visit as “historic and consequential,” highlighting projects like the Second Niger Bridge access roads and the rehabilitation of the Enugu-Onitsha Road as major federal contributions.“What you commissioned today, Mr. President, are mere symbolisms of the audacity of our dreams for a new Anambra State,” Soludo said.
“You haven’t seen anything yet.”The President also received the traditional title “Dikesimba of Anambra State” from Igwe Chidubem Iweka and inaugurated several projects including the Emeka Anyaoku Institute at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and the Solution Fun City leisure complex.
Prominent leaders including Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Sir Emeka Offor, and Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s Emeka Sibeudu reaffirmed support for Tinubu, calling for unity and national progress.
