President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm several nominees for top management positions in key federal agencies, including the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), National Population Commission (NPC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The request, conveyed through multiple letters and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary, detailed appointments across the agencies.

For NERC, Tinubu nominated Abdullahi Ramat as chairman and chief executive officer, alongside Abubakar Yusuf and Fouad Olayinka Animashaun as commissioners overseeing consumer affairs and finance management services, respectively.

In the FCCPC, the president proposed Louis Odion from Edo as commissioner for operations and Ummueelm Isiyaku Rabiu from Kano as commissioner for corporate services.

At the NPC, Tinubu nominated Agbaje Olukoye as chairman representing the south-west. Other nominees include Hafiz Muhammad Kawu Ibrahim (north-west, technical), Samuel Chigozie Uwande (south-east, inspectorate), Charles Efe Sylvester (south-south, finance), Bello Abubakar Malabu (north-east, administration), and Omolola Bridget Oliworaran (south-west, director-general). Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa and Tonge Betara Bularafa from Yobe were also nominated as commissioners.

The president further submitted five names for consideration as commissioners in the RMAFC. They include Bello Abubakar Wammako (Sokoto), Hadizatu Uwani Mustapha (Borno), Marafa Bashir Abba (Taraba), Ahmed Waziri Hassan (Adamawa), Bob Helen Inafe (Bayelsa), and Gboyega Oladele (Osun).

In a separate communication, Tinubu requested the confirmation of Obehi Aire Okafor as co-chairman of the governing council of the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund.

The nominations, once approved, are expected to fill critical leadership roles in agencies central to power regulation, population data management, consumer protection, and fiscal policy.
